Rick Green, who formerly held the position of Director of Golf at Timberlake Golf Club in Clinton, N.C. since 2003 is now the pro at the popular Goldsboro golf course.
Rick grew up in Zebulon and started playing golf at the country club that had just opened near his home when he was twelve. A year later he was “hooked” and was working for the pro washing and parking golf carts. He played golf at Louisburg College and later worked at Par Golf Driving Range in Raleigh.
In 1975 He became the Head Golf Professional at Hidden Valley CC in Willow Springs, N.C. until the course was sold five years later in 1980. In December, 1980 He moved to Kenansville, N.C. and became the golf professional at Duplin CC where he remained for 23 years. During that time, he married his wife (Lisa) and together they had two children (Allie, now 17 and Sim, now 13).
He recently stated: “I am now excited to join the staff here at Lane Tree as PGA Director of Golf. I am fortunate that nearly 50 years ago a PGA Professional named Bert Knott was a role model that taught me a love and respect for the game that still influences me today. That’s one reason that I continue to support Junior Golf and Play It Forward initiatives of the PGA”. Rick started his new position in early December. Please make every effort to come in, introduce yourself, and welcome him to the course.
