Matt Hill is not only the defending NCAA Division I individual champion, he also has received numerous other awards and recognition for his achievements playing golf on the NC State Men’s Golf Team. This past week the 2010 Ben Hogan Award watch list was announced, and it’s really no surprise that NC State’s Matt Hill made the list. We hope that Matt Hill makes the cut when the semifinalists are announced on April 14th. We’ll be listening and watching! The Ben Hogan Award is the most prestigious award in men’s college golf, and Chesapeake Energy, in association with the Colonial Country Club, the Friends of Golf (FOG), and the Golf Coaches Association of America sponsor and choose the watch list members and overall winner. The three finalists will be announced on May 11th and invited to the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, where the Hogan Award presentation will take place on the evening of May 24th.
Hill was the only member from the Wolfpack’s team to make the cut; however, he was not the only player selected that played at a school in North Carolina. Brendan Gielow from Wake Forest and Corey Nagey from Charlotte also were on the Hogan Award watch list for 2010. Congrats guys! Schools such as Oklahoma State had four players make the list, Stanford saw three of its players on the list, and Alabama had two representatives make the cut.
