The head golf course superintendent for the course, Michael Norton and Shaun Kerr, his assistant superintendent are being assisted by professionals from Modern Turf, who has a license to grow and install the Mini Verdi type of Bermuda turf. Modern Turf is based in Rembert South Carolina.

Plans for the project began almost four years ago according to golf course manager an since that time workers have exerted a great deal of effort in preparation for the project. Prior to installation Legacy’s general manager, Chad Derusseau related that the team of course managers began with plans for some tree removal, green surround and a full test green before going forward. Lots of research and planning has been involved in each step and course managers look to the future and see Legacy Golf Links as one of the best courses to play in North Carolina’s famed Sandhills Golf region for another two decades after this exceptional investment.

Legacy Golf Links Sandhills NC was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in the early 90’s. Legacy has lived up to its name and received numerous accolades and awards such as having the distinction of being one of the Top 25 Public Courses in the Country by Golf World’s readers as part of their Readers’ Choice Awards.
