Today is the Golden Bear’s birthday so happy birthday Jack! In honor of the legend’s birthday, we are going to take a look at a few North Carolina golf courses that have the Jack Nicklaus signature.

While 12 courses in North Carolina are Nicklaus designed, you must either be a property owner or know someone to get on the course as they are strictly private. However, a few of North Carolina’s Nicklaus courses are open to everyone.

Perhaps the most notable of these courses are the Legacy Golf Links in Aberdeen NC. The course has been award 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest, and has also been honored as one of the top 25 public golf courses in the world. Legacy Golf Links represents a classic North Carolina Sandhills layout with tall pines and rolling hills.

Also in the Pinehurst NC area is the National Golf Club. While you must stay with one of the Pinehurst getaways to play the course, it is one of the more known courses in the Sandhills region.

For those near Winston Salem NC, the Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons NC is a challenge that awaits you. The course was awarded four stars by Golf Digest. The layout takes full advantage of the beautiful terrain, including 150 feet of elevation change, four and a half miles of creeks and nine lakes. Salem Glen has two distinct nines to challenge all skill levels.

North Carolina golf features courses for all levels, and one will test those skills then the Nicklaus designs.
