McConnell Golf Introduces Footprints on the Green

Owner of eight premier private golf clubs around the Carolinas, McConnell Golf offers its members a collaborative way to unite, contribute and engage throughout their various local communities.

RALEIGH, N.C. (February 2013) — In its first decade of existence, McConnell Golf has earned a reputation for giving back not only to the game of golf, but also by serving as host to many charities throughout its clubs’ communities and donors toward numerous others, as well.

Now, McConnell Golf is introducing a way for its thousand-plus members around the Carolinas to participate and engage. Seeking to leave a vast “footprint” of giving, McConnell Golf’s new “Footprints on the Green” program is designed to elicit a strong and supportive effort by McConnell Golf’s collective membership and staff, and is intended to become a driving force in the local community where McConnell Golf clubs reside.

Among the volunteer opportunities already scheduled are the Food Bank of North Carolina in Durham on February 16 and 23; Urban Ministry Can Drive throughout February; First Friday Kids Camp at Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh on April 5; Special Olympics Track and Field at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh on April 17 and 18; Triangle March for Babies in Durham on April 27; and a family dinner at Ronald McDonald House in Durham on July 22. Additional charities currently organizing dates with McConnell Golf for involvement include Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, Dress for Success, among others.

“We are well aware of the challenges our society and environment face daily,” said Lauren Barry, Marketing and Events Director of McConnell Golf. “We will align ourselves with a variety of organizations to hear their stories and spread their message through our support.”

“Footprints on the Green” was designed with all age groups in mind, to serve as a learning tool for the youth, a team-building activity for the McConnell Golf staff and a friendship-building platform to strengthen membership connections. The program allows members and staff to contribute through volunteering time and efforts to enrich the lives and environment around them.

“Any amount of aid makes a big difference, so no action or donation is too small,” added Barry. “We encourage our members to unite in a meaningful and collaborative effort by volunteering on their own, with their family and with their friends in all of the events and activities offered. We believe they will strengthen old friendships and develop new ones with those they see around their club, as fellow members and employees.”
