Richard Petty-Randolph Golf Classic to Take Place in Randleman in March

Since 1989, the Richard Petty-Randolph Golf Classic has been drawing golfers from near and far to the community Randleman NC. Participants travel from as far away as Texas and Pennsylvania to take part in this tournament, which features 200 players annually. They journey to the area not just for the excitement of the game, but to benefit a good cause. Since 2003, the proceeds from the Richard Petty-Randolph Golf Classic have been paying for the construction of the $250,000 welcome center at Victory Junction Camp, an organization dedicated to helping children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.

When the Kyle and Pattie Petty and their son Adam participated in a charity motorcycle ride to benefit Camp Boggy Creek, a member of Paul Newman’s Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, they were inspired to reach out to members of their own community in a similar way. Upon Adam’s untimely passing, Kyle and Pattie Petty decided to honor their son’s memory by bringing his dream to life. With the support of other Hole in the Wall Camps and their friends in the NASCAR community, the Petties were able to open Victory Junction. Since it opened in 2004, children from 47 states and 3 countries have had the chance to participate in great outdoor activities, fantastic sports, various creative endeavors, and a number of unique recreational activities thanks to Victory Junction and those who help support this exceptional cause. The camp is open year round and children who participate must have a diagnosis that meets the camp’s specific criteria.

This special event is slated to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 24, 2010 at Asheboro Country Club. The Richard Petty-Randolph Golf Classic offers spectators not only the chance to see their favorite NASCAR drivers on the links, but the opportunity to do their part to help support a very worthy cause. The event has sold out in previous years, so make arrangements to attend the Richard Petty-Randolph Golf Classic now and help make a difference in the lives of children with severe health problems.
