The PGA Heads to Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Country Club Next Week

Get ready folks! The PGA Tour is heading to Charlotte in a little more than a week’s time. Quail Hollow Country Club Charlotte has been a PGA Tour Stop on the PGA Tour Schedule since 2003. At last year’s Quail Hollow Championship PGA Tournament, Sean O’Hair grabbed the spotlight and was victorious. This year, however, all eyes are on Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, who are both returning to the fairways for the first official event since the Masters. Woods announced that he would play at the Quail Hollow Championship as late as last Thursday, and Mickelson followed suit the next day saying that he would be in Charlotte for the 2010 Quail Hollow Championship which starts Thursday, April 29th, and lasts until Sunday, May 2, 2010. For Woods, this is the second official golf tournament at which he has made an appearance since his now infamous sex scandal made headlines. This event will mark the first event that Woods will attend in which the General Public is allowed to purchase Quail Hollow Championship Tickets. It will be Mickelson’s first tournament since he took away his third green jacket at The Masters.

If statements he made on his web site are any indication of how Woods will play at this coming PGA Tour Stop, we’re in for a great tournament. Tiger mused that he couldn’t wait to get back out on the course at Quail Hollow Country Club Charlotte and, after winning here in 2007 and finishing fourth last year, we are sure that Woods is aiming for a solid competition between himself and Phil Mickelson, golf’s other major heavyweight. Mickelson’s return to Quail Hollow Country Club Charlotte marks his fifth tournament appearance here, much like Woods; however, Mickelson has never won at this PGA Tour Stop, but he has graced the top list, finishing in the top 10 four times. Last year, he tied for fifth.

We know Woods will receive tons of support from loving fans, and we’ll be watching to see if Mickelson takes off at this event and takes it away much like he did at The Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta previously. The city of Charlotte welcomes spectators and other tournament attendees and volunteers for this event and the appearance of both of these legendary golfers will without a doubt help increase the event’s notoriety, press, and ticket sales. As for ticket sales, Saturday daily tickets are sold out already, Friday and Sunday day tickets are running out fast! Ticket prices include parking and shuttle service to and from the golf course. You can also purchase tickets at the kiosk located at South Park Mall.
