Upcoming CGA Tournaments Now Open for Registration

The well known amateur golf organization, the Carolinas Golf Association, has opened its first tournaments of 2010 and the first events of this year’s schedule of tournaments will be played at some of the most infamous Golf Courses in North Carolina and South Carolina. The January 16th event, which was a One-Day Four-Ball Tournament of Champions, has since been rescheduled, making the Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournaments at Wild Dunes Golf Resort (February 9th and 10th) on the Links and Harbor Courses the first event of the year. The One-Day Four-Ball Tournament slated for February 15th is also open for registration now and will take place at Old North State Club in New London North Carolina. Old North State Club is a Fazio designed masterpiece located on Badin Lake NC which is merely 50 miles from metropolitan cities such as Charlotte and Winston Salem. Following this event are three Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournaments scheduled for February 23rd and 24th, and March 3rd. The two tournaments that take place Feb. 23rd and Feb. 24th will be played at NC Golf Courses in the NC Sandhills Golf area near Southern Pines NC. Tuesday the 23rd, players will hit Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club, and the following day, they will head over to Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club. On March 3rd, the CGA Senior Tournament will be held at Cowan’s Ford Country Club in Stanley NC. Lastly, the CGA One-Day Four-Ball Tourney scheduled for March 8th is also open for registration; players will head to the Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis NC for this NC Golf Tournament.

Players and members of the Carolinas Golf Association should make note of changes to the tournament formats and qualification ages. The Men’s Mid Senior/Senior/Super Senior One-Day Tournament minimum age has been reduced to 45 years of age. For this, a 45 to 49 age division has been added. The One-Day Four-Ball Tournaments have been divided into two Men’s flights (divided based upon team handicap) and the Mixed/Women teams will be combined into one flight. The Carolinas Golf Association is one of the oldest organizations in both states and seeks to educate and provide a competitive platform for amateurs in both states to enjoy the game of golf.
